Hello everyone, allow me to share with you a brief history of Eldee.

When I was growing up at home my parents loved animals and we always had a pet, either a dog, cat, or both.

My love for the Collie started when I was 13 years old when we adopted a 6 year old named Dicky. I attended a private school at the time which was about 1/2 mile from our house. During the winter Dicky would

carry my books for me on his back. In the summertime I would take my bicycle and he would follow by my side. Mrs. Leblanc, my professor, allowed him to sleep on the gallery during my classes.

I would eventually have dreams of one day having a kennel and breeding Collies. In the meantime I became involved with horses and my horse was at board with some friends who had a stable. It was with their permission that my father was able to build for me a small well planned kennel. My dream was becoming a reality. I spent several months searching for a reputable breeder. It was in l972 when I contacted Ariel Sleeth, Sovereign Kennel, and she had a 3 month old sable and white female collie puppy for sale. We made our first trip to Kingston, Ontario (one of many to follow) and came home with Bonny that we named. Ariel became my mentor. Her invaluable advice and encouragement helped to guide my direction in those early years. Well,  it was with Bonnie we went to our first dog show and she finished her championship very quickly with Best of Breed wins. She bacame Ch.Sovereign Gold Preview. I became a member of the Canadian Kennel Club in l973. My kennel name was registered by the C.K.C. on August 30th, l974. The name was an idea my father had by combining

the initials of my name, hence "LD" became"ELDEE"

A year later I acquired Ch.Sovereign High Fashion, a striking tri-colour female named Pet. Ariel had completed her championship after just 2 weekends. Ariel also happen to breed shelties. It was

not long before I fell in love with this breed as well. I bought a sable female, by the name of Vicky who had 8 points. We entered her in one show where she finished her championship.  She became

Ch.Sovereign Glory Bound. Two years later, I had room for another collie and I bought a 3 month old puppy male. I named him Gamin, Ch.Sovereign Reach For The Sky. Along the way, I bought a sable female sheltie named Honour, Ch. Chicwin's Sweet Honesty. She had a particularly endearing temperment. She was alwlays ready to play no matter what  the time of day.

These are but a few of the special dogs that made up the foundation of Eldee. Their spirit is truly evident in our line today.

Since 1990 we have only bred shelties and while we no longer have collies, they will forever have a special place in our hearts.

The dogs have allowed me to meet many friends along the way. I want to sincerely thank those who helped me show my dogs, those who shared the joys of good days and were there with support for the tough days. I look forward to many more years in breeding this delightful loving breed we know as the Sheltie and making many more wonderful new friends.
